About CotA
Children of the Ashes formed in 2019 in Hiroshima, Japan. Our music tells the story of our city — the tragedy and horror of the atomic bombing, the heroic efforts to rebuild from destruction, and the urgent need for peace in this troubled world.
We take inspiration from the stories of A-bomb survivors, monuments dedicated to the victims, A-bomb literature, A-bomb poets, and the ceaseless warfare inherent to capitalist society. Our band name derives from an excellent, and sadly rare, book about Hiroshima by Robert Jungk.
Collectively, we’re third generation survivors of an American nuclear weapon and a Nazi concentration camp. Opposition to war is in our DNA. And we believe it’s in yours, too.
We hope our music will encourage discussions about war, peace, and nuclear issues in the crust, punk, and metal scenes around the world.
